Shopping at the San Juan de Dios Market
The newer of the two main mercados in San Miguel de Allende is the Mercado San Juan de Dios in the Colonia San Antonio. I needed to pick up some fruits and vegetables so I decided to take a few pictures while I was there.
You will find everything you need – meats, fruits, vegetables, flowers, toys, clothing, CD’s, and household supplies.
The market is much more active than it appears in the photos. I took them at about 9:30am on a Sunday morning just as most of the shops were opening.

How to Get There
Walk down Canal street from the Jardin until you get San Pedro street – turn right. Go one block and you will see the market on the left side of the street. A good map of San Miguel de Allende to help you find the market.
Fresh Fruits and Vegetables from the Market
Total cost for all the fruits and vegetables that I purchased at the market came to $30 pesos which is about $2.25 U.S at the current exchange rate. A good deal if you ask me.
