Traditional Mexican Candy Shop

Our Favorite Candy Store in San Miguel

We buy our hand ground chocolate for our beverages at the candy store, Dulces Tipicos El Papalote located on Reloj #29 just North of Insurgentes, downtown.

They have a great selection of regional candies that you won’t find anywhere else in San Miguel. Try the fantastic cajeta (a goat’s milk caramel sauce) with pecans.

Hand Ground Chocolate

We use hand ground chocolate from Zacatecas in all of our chocolate based drinks. Mexican drinking chocolate is a mix of chocolate, almonds, sugar, and cinnamon. When you visit the shop take some home. The taste is unique. You will never go back to hot chocolate made from syrup.

The chocolate comes in tablets which are broken into small pieces and then melted in hot milk.

Finding the Shop

It’s a small shop that is easy to miss. Look for the El Papalote banners hanging in the doorway so that you know you are in the right place.
